If you are like me and live in the Northern hemisphere, then it is most likely that January is a cold month for you too. This is why most of us are looking for warm places to travel to during the winter. But not all places that seem to be a good choice are actually good.
There are a lot of places that you can visit all year round, but I have decided to share with you my favorite destinations to check out at the beginning of the year.
This is why I decided to create a list of all the best places to travel to in January considering the daytime temperatures, weather, and continent. So, scroll down and check if your destination is the right choice for you during January.
Dubai
The first destination on our list of the best places to travel in January is Dubai. When you say Dubai, you instinctively think of an expensive city, luxury, and grandeur. Lately, the largest city in the United Arab Emirates has become an increasingly accessible destination for tourists.
Dubai is a great place to travel to in January as the weather is balanced with the average lowest temperature being 22°C and the highest 25°C. The water is also great, with average temperatures of 23.5°C. Another great thing is that you will hardly see any rain during this period.
The average number of rainy days in January is 2 and the UV Index is 6. However, it can be a little crowded as January is part of the peak season months.
Miami
Miami is the third most visited city in the United States and is the most important city in Florida. Due to the low degree of pollution, it is also considered the cleanest city. It is known for its scenic skyscrapers in the center of the city, the Latin neighborhoods such as Little Havana, and the well-known South Beach.
The average temperatures in Miami during this month are 22°C and the water temperature is 23.4°C, making it the perfect weather to sunbathe and swim. The number of rainy days is 6 and the UV Index is 6. Don’t forget to use sunblock cream and to stay hydrated while in the sun.
Hong Kong
When you say Hong Kong, you immediately think of skyscrapers and tall buildings that seem to pierce the sky. Millions of people work daily in Hong Kong, a complex city full of options. The English heritage is felt everywhere, differing from the rest of China.
Hong Kong is a very popular destination for people that want to get a taste o Asia. January is a good month to visit Hong Kong as the average temperatures are 18°C, and the average number of rainy days is 8.
This means that January is a great day to walk around and explore the streets of Hong Kong.
Bangkok
The capital of Thailand is fascinating in a totally special way compared to other places you have seen. On the one hand, the crowds make it a vibrant city that has nothing to offer tourists but nightlife, but on the other hand, the parks, temples, and quiet places will surprise you in a pleasant way.

Bangkok is another great place to visit at the beginning of the year. In January, the average temperatures are 29°C and on average it only rains for 4 days. The humidity level is at 67% making the heat more bearable, considering that January is a sunny month in Thailand.

If you want to visit the theme parks, the beginning of the year is a good time. The average temperatures in Orlando are 17°C – 18°C, and during the month there are on average 6 days of rainfall.

Cancun
Cancun is a perfect destination for most tourists to enjoy the winter sun. For young people, it means a non-stop party. Newlyweds can find the perfect romantic destination in Cancun to spend their honeymoon. Sports enthusiasts can dive into the clear ocean and have perfect waves for surfing.

An entry that is different than any other destination on my list of best places to travel in to January, is Marrakesh. It is the capital of the southeastern region of Morocco called Marrakesh-Safi.
Located about 150 km from the Atlantic Ocean, the city has about 1 million inhabitants. Marrakesh is an important tourist center in North Africa, being famous for the gardens and architectural monuments of Medina, the old part of the city.
At the beginning of the year, Marrakesh enjoys good weather for tourists. If you want to visit this destination, you must know that the average temperatures during this period are between 18°C – 20°C. The UV index is 5, so you should try to protect yourself from the sun’s rays.
January does not have many rainy days in this area, with an average of 4 rainy days throughout the month. This makes Marrakesh one of the best places to travel in January.
Honolulu (Hawaii)
Honolulu (Oahu) is one of the most famous islands in Hawaii. Although it is not possible to say exactly when the first inhabitants settled here, it is speculated that the first settlements date from the twelfth century. Its name means “protected bay” due to the deep but calm waters of the port.
